General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking dedicated, motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise for our Electrical Technology Instructor position to continue to move the program forward in innovative ways. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.
The successful candidate for this position will have relevant professional experience and/or focused academic study necessary to provide instruction in a full range of courses including, but not limited to: Principles of Electricity; Programmable Logic Controllers; Power Systems; Digital Electronics; Industrial Automation Networks, Measurement and Instrumentation; Control Systems Design, Integration and Implementation; Electronic Troubleshooting and Diagnostics; and Robotics.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position. Must be knowledgeable of alternative educational delivery platforms.
Required Qualifications
• Journeyman electrician plus 1 year of experience
OR
• Associate degree in Electrical Technology plus 4 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
OR
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field plus 2 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
• Experience with modern electrical or control technologies
Desirable Qualifications
• Master's degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field
• Teaching/Training experience, in the electrical technology field preferred
• Experience at a community college environment
License(s)/Certifications
