Position Summary

Griffon Aerospace is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Madison, Alabama. This role involves leading electrical systems design and development efforts for advanced unmanned aerial vehicles while providing technical mentorship to junior team members. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in aerospace or defense electrical systems, strong technical leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive projects from concept through production.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and testing of electrical systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
  • Perform circuit board design, component selection, and schematic capture for complex electrical systems
  • Conduct system-level electrical architecture design and trade studies
  • Lead electrical integration efforts and troubleshoot complex system-level issues
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians
  • Lead technical reviews and design reviews with internal teams and customers
  • Develop test plans, specifications, and verification procedures for electrical systems
  • Oversee electrical testing activities and validate system performance against requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and systems engineering
  • Support manufacturing engineering efforts including design for manufacturability and production support
  • Prepare and present technical documentation including design reports, test results, and technical briefings

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering
  • Proven experience in aerospace, defense, or UAV electrical systems design
  • Strong expertise in circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems
  • Proficiency with circuit design tools such as Altium, Eagle, or equivalent
  • Experience leading technical projects and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles including analog, digital, and power systems
  • Experience with electrical testing, validation, and troubleshooting complex systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present technical information clearly
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations and able to access ITAR and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • Experience with avionics, flight control systems, or autopilot systems
  • Knowledge of power distribution systems, battery management, and energy storage
  • Experience with RF systems, antennas, telemetry, or communications systems
  • Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or other aerospace electrical standards
  • Experience with embedded systems development and hardware-software integration
  • Background in systems engineering and requirements management
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other engineering analysis tools
