Stark State College is seeking a passionate and dedicated part-time instructor to join our Automotive and Transportation department at the Indian River High School. Typical Responsibilities Include:- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in various automotive and transportation courses while demonstrating effective communication skills.

- Associate's degree in automotive technology, and/or post-secondary certificate from a Master (MAST) ASE Education Foundation-accredited program, which includes:
- MAST Instructors: All MAST instructors must hold current ASE certification in Auto Maintenance & Light Repair (G1), Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6), and in the Automobile area(s) (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7, and/or A8) they teach.
- MAST instructors teaching Engine Performance must also hold current ASE certification as an Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1).
- MAST instructors teaching Hybrid/Electric vehicle (xEV) diagnosis and repair should also hold current ASE certification as a Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist (L3) and xEV Electrical Safety Level 2.
- MAST programs must have one or more instructors currently certified in each of the following areas: G1, A1 through A8, and L1. L3 and xEV Electrical Safety Level 2 are recommended if the program covers Hybrid/Electric vehicle (xEV) diagnosis and repair.
Master Certification: At all levels, current certification as an ASE Master Automobile Technician (A1-A8) satisfies the requirements above for G1 certification.
- Five years full-time equivalent related work experience required.
- If previous qualifications have not been met, then the candidate must have at least 10 years of full-time, equivalent, related work experience.

STATE TEACHERS RETIREMENT SYSTEM (S.T.R.S.)State Teachers Retirement SystemThe (STRS), was established to provide a secure retirement for Ohio's public educators. STRS is available to all faculty members. The College contributes 14% of the employee's wages for the retirement benefit and the employee contributes 14% of their wages toward the retirement benefit.
INSTRUCTIONAL FEESAll instructional and general fees for credit, audit, or non-credit courses offered at Stark State College will be paid by the College from the income of the College budgeted for employee benefits up to an amount per academic semester not to exceed such fees for six credit hours per semester.
A part-time employee may enroll in any section or course on a space-available basis. To qualify for this benefit, employees:
- Shall take the course(s) during a semester in which they are currently working.
- Shall have instructed a minimum of 8 credit hours or 13 CEUs at Stark State College or if paid hourly, worked a minimum of 320 hours before receiving this benefit.
- Must obtain the approval of their supervisor. Employees paid on an hourly basis shall refer to the minimum hours worked requirement to qualify for the benefit. The employee's primary position during the semester the benefit is used determines the employee's eligibility.
Eligible part-time employees desiring this benefit must complete an Instructional Fee Waiver form available on mystarkstate and must submit it to the employee's supervisor for approval.
Instructional fees are available for IRS dependents of part-time employees. All instructional and general fees for credit, audit, or non-credit courses offered at Stark State College will be paid by the College from income of the College budgeted for employee benefits for dependents of part-time employees for six semester hours per academic year per employee.
Dependents of part-time employees may enroll in any section or course on a space-available basis. The student will be required to pay the processing fee and all other incidental fees associated with the course enrolled in each semester.
Dependents of employees classified as student workers, substitute workers, or seasonal workers will not be eligible to participate in this program. Dependents of part-time employees who are eligible for tuition waivers such as College Credit Plus, various scholarships and grants, and other such nonloan programs must use those funds prior to use of the Instructional Fee Waiver benefit.
