Facilities & Operations Assistant
Location: South San Francisco, CA (On-site)
Part-time (24 hours/week)
Parvus Therapeutics Inc.
Parvus Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering in vivo generation of antigen-specific Treg cell therapy to treat and potentially cure autoimmune disease. Parvus pMHC nanomedicines trigger in vivo differentiation of the patients own autoreactive T-cells into antigen-specific Treg cells that home to target sites of inflammation and restore local immune tolerance without broad immunosuppression. The Parvus lead drug candidate, PVT201, targets autoimmune liver disease and organ transplant rejection has demonstrated favorable safety, pharmacokinetics, and on-target pharmacodynamic activity in a Phase 1 first-in-human study. PVT401, being developed in partnership with AbbVie, targets inflammatory bowel disease and has entered clinical evaluation. Additional pMHC nanomedicine programs address type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, celiac disease, and rheumatoid arthritis.
The Position
The Facility & Operations Assistant will contribute to supporting the day-to-day operations of our facility, ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and efficient workplace for our laboratory and office teams.
Working closely with the Operations Specialist, this position focuses on facility coordination, inventory management, shipping and receiving, equipment upkeep, vendor coordination, and maintaining a well-functioning workplace. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the overall operation of the facility while gaining valuable experience in the biotechnology industry.
Primary Responsibilities:
Laboratory Facilities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment that supports daily research activities.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including consumables, PPE, gases, cryogenic liquids, and other facility supplies through ordering, receiving, stocking, and vendor-managed inventory programs.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including hazardous materials, in compliance with applicable regulations (DOT).
  • Coordinate equipment servicing, preventative maintenance, calibration, vendor visits, and facility repairs to ensure laboratory equipment remains operational.
  • Respond to monitored laboratory equipment alarms (e.g., freezers, refrigerators, incubators) and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Coordinate laboratory waste disposal, recycling, chemical waste collection, and other facility services.
  • Maintain equipment records, maintenance schedules, inventory logs, and operational documentation.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives by assisting with inspections, safety programs, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.

Office Facilities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming office, kitchen, meeting, and common areas to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Order, receive, stock, and manage office supplies, kitchen supplies, groceries, and workplace essentials.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness by loading and unloading the dishwasher, organizing cupboards, restocking supplies, and ensuring shared spaces remain tidy.
  • Prepare meeting rooms for meetings, training sessions, company events, and visitor arrivals.
  • Assist with employee onboarding by preparing workstations, office supplies, access cards, and welcome materials.
  • Support office moves, workstation setup, furniture assembly, and general office organization.
  • Assist with employee events, team lunches, celebrations, and other workplace initiatives.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and building management to support day-to-day office operations and facility needs.

Requirements:
  • Office/facilities experience including:
    • Purchasing
    • Shipping and receiving
    • Contractor/service provider procurement and management
    • Equipment and consumables inventory management
    • Project planning and execution
  • Awareness of employee and environmental health and safety guidelines (specific biotech EHS awareness a plus).
  • Computer/IT literacy, including Excel-based database/master file setup and maintenance.
  • Experience and competency with word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes under short notice with a proactive attitude.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
The expected pay range for this role is $30 - $34 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
