Working part-time at an early-stage startup can be both rewarding and challenging. One common challenge is managing shifting priorities, as startups often pivot quickly and require team members to adapt to new tasks on short notice. Communication can also be more complex, especially when balancing part-time hours with a team that may operate on a full-time schedule. Additionally, resources are often limited, requiring creative problem-solving and a willingness to wear multiple hats. Despite these challenges, the experience provides valuable exposure to many aspects of business operations and opportunities for rapid skill development.

To thrive in a part-time early stage startup role, you need a versatile skill set that may include business development, marketing, or technical expertise, depending on the startup's focus, along with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, project management platforms such as Trello or Asana, and basic analytics or CRM software is often required. Adaptability, strong communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in these dynamic environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for driving progress, handling shifting priorities, and contributing meaningfully despite limited resources and time.

What is a part-time early stage startup job?

A part-time early stage startup job involves working with a new company that is in its initial phases of development while committing fewer hours than a traditional full-time role. Employees in these positions often help with a variety of tasks such as product development, marketing, customer support, or operations. Working part-time at an early stage startup typically offers flexibility, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to make significant contributions. However, these roles can also be less structured, with rapidly changing responsibilities and priorities. Compensation can vary and may include equity in the company.

Job description

We're a very early stage startup based in Palo Alto & San Francisco, founded by two experienced Silicon Valley execs: the former VP of Product at Slice and the former VP of Engineering at Piazza. We're focused on building a consumer mobile app called "face off" and recently launched to the app store: http://apple.co/1MfDuKz And we're looking for a sharp, entrepreneurial, high horsepower person to join us as an intern and help us with growth marketing. What is growth marketing

Well it's a broad term, but in a nutshell, you'd be responsible for helping us grow our user base on your campus and possibly other neighboring campuses. And depending on bandwidth, you'd also help out with various aspects of product marketing to help increase our signup conversion rates. This is an unpaid internship, but we promise a wealth of experience and flexibility of hours.

Oh and assuming you kick ass, you'd get amazing referrals and connections to other larger tech companies from us. Note to prospective applicants In order for your application to be considered, please include a brief note on what you love and don't love about the "face off" app in your cover letter. This of course means you'll need to download and try the app first.

http://apple.co/1MfDuKz We look forward to hearing from you. What are the requirements. You LOVE taking selfies and use Snapchat & Instagram everyday Any major (doesn't have to be CS) Creative Go-getter & self-directed (i.e

can take general direction and run with it) Not shy (e.g. you're not afraid to post to forums or approach people on the street to chat with them) Nice (we're really nice guys and we like working with nice people) Big bonus: if you're a member of a fraternity/sorority and/or well-connected into large campus organizations.
