Organizational Overview
The Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC) is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, private, non-profit corporation. The organization’s mission and strategic focus is to strengthen the core assets of downtown by revitalizing and connecting the Central Business District and Over-the-Rhine (OTR). 3CDC works in close collaboration with the Cincinnati corporate community and City of Cincinnati to carry out its mission. With an annual operating budget of $20 million, the organization has a team of approximately 170 full-time staff and 180 part-time staff engaged in real estate development, real estate management, civic space management and programming and business district management.
Job Summary
Get excited to join the events team at 3CDC! This fast-paced dynamic group hosts over 1,400 events per year in downtown Cincinnati’s largest civic spaces. As part of the Sponsorship Team, this position will help support efforts to fund Fountain Square, Washington Park, Ziegler Park, Court Street Plaza, Imagination Alley, Memorial Hall, and Elm Street Plaza. We raise approximately $2.8 million a year to ensure that most of our events and programs are free to the public.
The Sponsorship Promotional Intern will work directly with the Sales Manager to ensure we execute consistently for our sponsors. We are fortunate to work with the largest corporations in Cincinnati like Procter amp; Gamble, altafiber, Kroger Corporation, Duke Energy as well as many small and locally owned businesses throughout the Tri-state. It is important that we bring value to our partners through their sponsorship deliverables. This position will support these efforts both on-site in the civic spaces at events as well as through administrative work on fulfillment of our agreements with our partners.
The Sponsorship Promotional Intern will spend a good portion of their time in the civic spaces engaging with all 3CDC programmed events. It is at the events where sponsor recognition and activations take place. It will be the roll of the Sponsorship Promotional Intern to ensure that the fulfillment of the onsite deliverables meet the standards of our clients. Fulfillment for clients varies from photos from onsite, pick-up and delivery of supplies, and coordinating onsite promotional materials.
At the conclusion of each season, we deliver a high-quality recap for each sponsor. These presentations include proof-of-delivery on all elements of the sponsorship agreement. The Sponsorship Promotional Intern will be responsible for capturing this information at select events as well as through our video, digital and social media assets. The Sponsorship Promotional Intern will also assist in the preparation of building the PowerPoint presentations for select clients.
This will be a fun and exciting internship as you will see the insiders view on what’s happening in our city. We will ensure this is a great opportunity to enhance your skill set for your next employer.
Tasks:
  • Promotional ambassador for clients at select events in 3CDC civic spaces. This requires engaging the public, delivering client specified messaging, handing out promotional items, signing people up for future communication. Candidate must be comfortable, confident, well-spoken, and positive while working on-site at events.
  • Delivery and retrieval of promotional items, gifts, on-site signage, etc. to our partners, clients, and civic spaces.
  • Collect proof of delivery of sponsorship deliverables. Including photographs on-site, screen shots of digital and social media assets.
  • Create and utilize excel documents to track fulfillment of sponsorship deliverables.
  • Must be exceptional at organization as the Sponsorship Promotional Intern will need to file all proof of delivery digital files once they are captured.
  • Create recap presentations for multiple clients in PowerPoint.
  • Update the Sponsorship Promotional Intern Training Manual throughout the internship so the next candidate is set up for success.
  • Candidate will work on several administrative tasks during this internship including organizing electronic filing systems.

Qualifications, skill and/or specialized knowledge:
  • Candidate in the process of earning a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related degree program is preferred. Career/academic goals of being involved in event management, sales, marketing and/or sponsorship in a corporate or non-profit field.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Candidate must be able to build and format spreadsheets in excel with ease. This position requires attention to detail as the PowerPoint materials used for recaps will be shared with external partners. The Candidate will assist in building these presentations as well as reviewing them for opportunities for improvement.
  • Flexible schedule. While the Sponsorship Promotional Intern will spend time in the 3CDC office, they must also have a schedule that allows for attending events on nights and weekends. These site visits will entail engaging with the public in our civic spaces as well as capturing photos while on-site. Photos can be taken with a cell phone, as we don’t require the candidate to be a professional photographer!
  • Transportation to and from work, events, and partner locations. The Sponsorship Promotional Intern must be able to provide their own transportation to get to and from the 3CDC office, our civic spaces, local stores and client locations. They will pick up merchandise and supplies from stores and clients throughout their internship. Many of these tasks will not be walking distance from our office.
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude, creative, and outgoing individual with the drive to take initiative and work both independently and interdependently with a team. We’re a roll-up-your-sleeves non-profit, so we need someone who has the drive to jump in and help get things done.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with demonstrated experience in making public presentations.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
