Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Direct Care Worker - Part-Time

Hourly Pay: $18.17-$20.04/hr

Shift Differential: Earn an additional $2.50/hr for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts worked

Schedule: Flexible part-time shifts available - mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is actively hiring part-time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Direct Care Workers, and Caregivers to support adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), behavioral health needs, and mental illness.

We have immediate openings supporting individuals in residential services, group homes, and community-based programs throughout Hampton and Newport News. About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide direct care, person-centered support, and daily living assistance to adults receiving residential and community support services.

You will help individuals develop life skills, improve independence, participate in community activities, and achieve personal goals while promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, caregiving support, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)

• Assist with personal care, meal preparation, hygiene, mobility, and daily routines

• Support medication administration, documentation requirements, and service plan implementation

• Encourage independence, skill development, positive behaviors, and community participation

• Support recreational activities, transportation needs, and community engagement opportunities

• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment while documenting services provided

Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of direct care, caregiving, healthcare support, behavioral health, residential services, human services, or experience supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and/or mental illness required

• Valid driver's license required
