Job description

The Technical Director and Producer will coordinate their efforts between production and digital departments. The primary role includes linear and digital content production oversight, including both technical, producing, and possible directing components. The ideal candidate will bring skill sets to the job and will receive training and direction to ensure quality content is produced on both broadcast and digital platforms.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Directs camera/video/audio talent for all linear and digital platforms
  • Acts as a liaison between engineering and production/digital departments
  • Works with the news producers to deliver a clean and high energy content on all platforms
  • Switches video sources and given direction for all content platforms
  • Ability to direct and produce with training provided.
  • Ability to shoot video or adapt with training a plus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Compose and frame camera shots, utilizing technical knowledge of lighting, lenses, composition, and camera settings to achieve desired production results.
  • Ability to create graphics, or adapt to training to become proficient
  • In this immediate part time role, the hourly candidate must be flexible with scheduling

Requirements:

  • High school diploma minimum
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Minimum two years' experience in news operations, digital/linear content production
  • Proficient with technology and ability to learn specific duties with additional training
  • Proficiency with broadcast/digital control equipment, and computer technology.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Troubleshoot and assist with minor equipment issues as needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
The Production Assistant must be able to stand, sit, walk, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday. This role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while making decisions that can impact live broadcast operations. Work may be performed in studio environments, control rooms, offices, or outdoor remote locations.
