Job description

Overview:

Egan Company is seeking candidates for a Diesel Mechanic to perform vehicle and equipment repairs, specifically focusing on heavy diesel and large truck repairs, as directed by the Garage Manager. The Diesel Mechanic must provide typical mechanic hand tools with toolbox. Performance of duties will be on-site in our repair garage and also includes jobsite visits, mobile truck service, and roadside work.

***Hours of operation for this role are Monday - Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. This is full-time, hourly role***

Responsibilities:
  • Repair/diagnose issues on vehicles and equipment, for example:
    • Construction Equipment
    • Earth Moving Equipment
    • Bucket Trucks
    • Digger Derrick
    • Trailers
    • Brake Systems
    • Hydraulic Systems
    • Engine Components
    • Drive Train Components
    • Body Components
    • Electrical Systems
  • Weld and Fabricate
  • Perform medium/heavy truck driving and rigging on all vehicles and equipment, including those over 26,000 GVW
  • Test-operate line tricks, auger trucks, and trenchers
Position Requirements:
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Two-year degree or certificate for truck repair from an accredited technical school program. Work experience may qualify for this educational requirement.
  • At least three years of experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel/medium-heavy trucks and equipment is highly preferred.
  • Must provide typical mechanic hand tools with toolbox.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a CDL (commercial drivers license)
  • This position requires passing a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical, drug screening, MVR and background check as a condition of employment.
Qualifications:
  • Mobile truck experience.
  • Heavy diesel and large truck repairs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and standard office software, including Google Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Team player willing to assist others as needed.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Performance of duties in the garage, approximately 60% of the time.
