Technology and Asset Support Specialist I

Summary:
Technology and Asset Support Specialist I will provide Tier 1 technical assistance to troubleshoot common hardware, software, connectivity, and user access issues. This role will assist employees and end users remotely through phone, email, chat, and remote support tools; and provide hands-on support for technology issues onsite.
Pay: $21-25/hr depending on experience
Location: Onsite - 775 West Broad, Columbus, Ohio 43222
Assignment: Full or Part Time, Permanent, Non-Exempt
Shift: First and/or Third Shift
Responsibilities:
  • Preform initial set up and connection of desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, and other workplace technology
  • Field Tier 1 technical support calls, chat, email, and/or other communication from onsite and remote users with inquiries regarding software programming, connectivity, printing, and similar concerns.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform basic account support, including password resets, account access issues, and login troubleshooting
  • Identify and investigate user problems with computer software and hardware
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed support tickets, including documenting troubleshooting steps and resolutions
  • Guide onsite and virtual users through diagnostic and troubleshooting processes, which may include use of diagnostic tools and software and/or following verbal instructions
  • Escalate issues requiring advanced technical support to Level 2 vendors, clients, or other appropriate IT resources
  • Identify recurring technical issues and communicate trends or potential larger problems to IT leadership
  • Arrange service by software or hardware vendors to repair or replace defective products
  • Track, tag, and maintain inventory of laptops, monitors, headsets, docks, and peripherals
  • Comply with all established industry and workplace IT procedures, security requirements, documentation standards, and service desk processes
  • Maintain knowledge of technology innovations and trends, participate required and ongoing training as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Relevant IT certifications or technical training are a plus but are not required
  • 1–2 years of IT help desk, service desk, desktop support, or technical support experience
  • Experience using IT ticketing or service management systems
  • Experience troubleshooting Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
  • Experience using remote support tools such as Microsoft Quick Assist, TeamViewer, or similar platforms preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and services
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including Wi-Fi, VPNs, IP addresses, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize requests, and manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide hands-on onsite technical support as well as virtual help desk support
  • Familiar with user account management and Active Directory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Service-oriented professional, patient approach to resolve concerns when assisting users with varying levels of technical knowledge
