As a Cook - Farm Market, you will carry out our Mission of Love by supervising all aspects of the Orchard View Cafe including inventory, menu planning, and preparation, while ensuring food safety guidelines are enforced.

Our Cook - Farm Market is responsible for the following:

  • Demonstrates a total understanding of cafe operations including menu planning, food preparation, retail merchandising, and signage.
  • Maintains inventory of food products including food, ice cream, and paper goods by estimating weekly needs, and orders food and supplies as needed.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary conditions of kitchen equipment and dining area in accordance with ServeSafe guidelines.
  • Monitors the entire food service process to ensure set targets are achieved. Establishes and implements a production schedule and ensures a sustainable operation by maintaining a record of prepared products to maximize sales, while limiting overproduction and waste.
  • Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to maintain and record daily cash receipts. Assists with daily, weekly and monthly cash deposits and records.
  • Excels in the ability to meet, interact and communicate with customers in a positive manner to elicit feedback on cafed items, and modifies product line as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills. Has received managerial training and assumes retail -Manager On Duty- role when required, which involves opening and closing of the Orchard View Cafe and Farm Market.
  • Coordinates training and supervision of all cafe staff. Resolves staff grievances and maintains good interdepartmental relationships.
  • Assists in developing, establishing, and obtaining departmental financial sales goals.

What You Need as a Cook - Farm Market:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Some cooking and retail sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment including ovens and stovetop burners.
  • Basic math / retail monetary skills
  • Good written, oral, organizational and basic computer skills.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a ServeSafe certification.
  • Ability to understand ingredient lists and efficiently follow recipes in detail.
