Job description

We are seeking a reliable and team-oriented Daycare Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals for children in a licensed childcare setting. This position is primarily responsible for morning food preparation and kitchen operations, with occasional support in classrooms when needed.
Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks according to daycare menus and dietary guidelines
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times
  • Properly store food and maintain temperature logs as required
  • Accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs
  • Communicate effectively with directors and teaching staff regarding meals and supplies
  • Assist in classrooms as needed for lunch breaks or short coverage when staffing allows
  • Work collaboratively with the team and take direction as needed
Requirements:

  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit (required)
  • Willingness to obtain Food Manager Certification
  • Ability to work morning hours consistently
  • Ability to follow instructions and established routines
  • Team player with a positive attitude and flexibility
  • Ability to step into classroom support roles when needed
  • Must be able to meet state childcare licensing requirements (background check, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience cooking in a childcare, school, or institutional setting
  • Knowledge of child nutrition guidelines
