Dance Instructor
What's the Job?
Do you love dancing and want to share that joy with others? We are seeking a passionate Dance Instructor who has experience with Tap and other dance styles, and is interested in teaching a variety of dancers, some as young as 3-years old. The ideal candidate has strong technical training, a love for teaching youth, and the ability to inspire students of various ages and skill levels. This position will report to the Recreation Supervisor.

When You'll Work:
The Dance Instructor role is a part-time year-round position. You'll usually work on weekday afternoons and evenings, from about 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. You'll work around 10-15 hours a week teaching dance and up to 7 extra hours a week preparing. Hours may vary based on class enrollment. There may be additional hours available to substitute in other classes.
For Summer 2026, daytime availability is required 7/13-7/17 and 7/27-7/31 for youth dance camps and weekday evenings are preferred. Future seasons may allow flexibility in creating a different schedule and there may be opportunities to substitute teach in additional dance classes as needed.
What You'll Do Each Day:
  • Plan and teach dance lessons to students who may be at different ages and/or skill levels.
  • Create choreography for students to perform in the spring recital.
  • Build strong positive relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
  • Maintain an upbeat, inclusive, and safe class environment while demonstrating strong classroom management abilities.
  • Potential to coach and choreograph for Youth Competition Teams.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a strong dance background, whether from a dance degree, professional experience, or participation in dance classes and competitions.
  • Possess knowledge of ballet, tap, jazz, modern/contemporary, and hip hop. Have confidence in your ability to teach these styles to different ages.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • First Aid/CPR certified within 90 days (District provided).
