Job description

Join a small and collaborative customs team and play a key role in supporting international trade operations

An international logistics company is seeking an Import / Customs Specialist (Entry Writer) to support customs clearance and import/export operations. Candidates with customs brokerage experience are highly encouraged to apply. Licensed Customs Brokers are welcome, but a license is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customs entries for import shipments.
  • Review commercial documents and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (FDA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
  • Classify products using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes.
  • Calculate duties and taxes and assist with customs-related documentation.
  • Maintain electronic records and support document management initiatives.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams.

Qualifications 

  • Experience in Customs Brokerage, Entry Writing, Import/Export Operations, or Freight Forwarding preferred.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification.
  • Experience with FDA, EPA, DOT, or other government agency requirements is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English.
  • Licensed Customs Broker certification is a strong plus.
  • Japanese language skills are NOT required.

Employment Type 

  • Full-Time Temp-to-Hire (preferred).
  • Direct Hire opportunities and part-time arrangements may be considered for candidates with relevant customs brokerage experience.

Compensation 

  • $24.00 - $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.
