About Us

MWL Festival Production is seeking Bag Checkers for its client Magical Winter Lights - a spectacular, larger-than-life 45-day festival that presents a fresh multicultural take on traditional holiday light shows.

About the role

The Bag Checker interacts with customers at the front gate to maintain the safety and well being of all persons, enforcing the festival's policies and guidelines. This position has a rate of $10/hr.

An ideal candidate is:

  • Proficient attention to detail and organization.
  • Punctual, and committed to all general responsibilities.
  • Proficient at communicating with customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Personable and friendly, while maintaining consistent professionalism in all interactions with customers, and being firm when needed.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Checking guests' bags or other carrying articles for weapons, pets or any prohibited items.
  • Directing customers to take any prohibited items back to their vehicle, otherwise they will be denied entry into the festival.
  • Making sure that any unauthorized food or beverages are not brought into the festival, with the exception of approved items for small children.
  • Monitoring the festival entry points to ensure only ticketed guests and authorized personnel are allowed entry.
  • Refusing entry to unauthorized persons.
  • Assisting in keeping the festival entry and exit points clean and orderly.

Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to the festival at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds.
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Legal working status in the United States.
  • Must be available to work afternoon hours, weekends as well as holidays if scheduled (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day)
Desired Skills:
  • Previous experience in a security-related occupation.
