Blueprint Creative Group is a strategic communications agency supporting state, local, and federal government agencies with enterprise-wide communications, public affairs, and program management.
Position Overview:
Blueprint Creative Group is seeking a talented and strategic Communications Account Manager to support our communications and public relations contract with our client. This position serves as the primary day-to-day liaison between Blueprint and the client, partnering closely with the client's Marketing Manager to execute strategic communications initiatives, media relations, crisis communications, storytelling, and community engagement efforts.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, relationship builder, and communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and remains calm under pressure during high-profile or crisis situations.
This position is ideal for a communications professional with approximately 3-7 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, media relations, or public affairs.
This is a Remote position with occasional travel to Nashville, TN as needed.
This is a part-time role, consisting of 10-15 hours monthly.
Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management
  • Serve as Blueprint's primary point of contact for assigned client initiatives.
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders through responsive communication and exceptional service.
  • Lead recurring client meetings and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Ensure all client deliverables are completed accurately, on schedule, and within contract requirements.
  • Proactively identify communications opportunities and recommend strategic solutions.
Public relations & Media Relations
  • Develop media strategies that increase visibility and positive public awareness.
  • Research, develop, and pitch compelling news stories to local, regional, and national media.
  • Draft news releases, media advisories, talking points, key messages, and media statements.
  • Coordinate media interviews, press events, and reporter requests.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.
  • Monitor earned media coverage and prepare regular media reports and analysis.
Strategic Communications
  • Creating engaging communications that support organizational goals.
  • Research, write, edit, and proofread newsletters, blogs, website copy, executive messaging, presentations, speeches, and other communications materials.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure messaging is accurate and compelling.
  • Perform thorough fact checking and quality assurance prior to publication.
Crisis Communications
  • Respond quickly to emerging issues requiring communications support.
  • Assist in developing crisis communication plans, messaging, media statements, FAQs, and executive talking points.
  • Monitor media coverage throughout active news cycles and provide leadership with timely updates.
  • Coordinate communications support before, during, and following crisis events.
  • Exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information.
Community Engagement
  • Identify opportunities to increase community awareness and audience engagement.
  • Recommend outreach strategies for underserved or untapped audiences.
  • Support communications campaigns promoting library programs, initiatives, and special events.
  • Assist in strengthening community partnerships through strategic communications.
Project Management
  • Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Track deliverables, priorities, and timelines across multiple assignments.
  • Coordinate with internal creative teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and status updates.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must reside within 30 miles of the Nashville area
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Public Affairs, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, media relations, or strategic communications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience developing media pitches, press releases, and executive communications.
  • Experience managing client relationships and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of traditional, digital, and social media landscapes.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel locally occasionally for client meetings, media events, and special projects.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours during crisis communications events when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Agency experience supporting multiple clients.
  • Experience working with government agencies, municipalities, nonprofits, educational institutions, or public sector organizations.
  • Crisis communications experience.
  • Experience using media monitoring platforms.
  • Experience preparing executive presentations and briefing materials.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
