Job Description

Responsibilities:
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar
Perform scaling and root planing as indicated for periodontal therapy
Conduct patient assessments and review medical history
Take radiographs as needed for diagnosis and treatment planning
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and preventive care
Review and maintain accurate patient records and documentation
Utilize dental software (we use OpenDental—training provided if needed)
Assist with sterilization of instruments and maintaining proper infection control protocols
Restock operatories and ensure treatment rooms are cleaned, organized, and properly prepared for each patient

Salary Range

Part-time $40 - $50 per hour

- Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

Shift & Schedule

Structure: This is a flexible position for one day per week.
Scheduling: The specific day is flexible (Monday through Thursday), to be determined upon hire.
Hours: The typical shift starts between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM, with flexibility on the end time.

Requirements
  • Licensed dental hygienist

Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license.
Clinical Proficiency: Proven ability to perform standard dental hygiene procedures, including patient assessment, scaling, and root planing.
Patient Focus: A strong commitment to ensuring patient comfort and providing compassionate, high-quality care.
Infection Control: Expert knowledge of dental sterilization, disinfection, and healthcare infection prevention and control protocols.
Documentation: Experience with accurate patient charting and managing patient records within a dental software system (e.g., Open Dental).
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective patient counseling and team collaboration.

Preferences

Experience in a high-end or fee-for-service practice setting.
Familiarity with the Open Dental software system.
Experience in developing comprehensive patient treatment plans.
Comfortable operating modern medical imaging and dental equipment.
