Job description

SpatialGIS Services is seeking a motivated Junior-to-Mid Level Cloud Developer to join our technical team. In this role, you will serve as a key builder and maintainer within our cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for executing well-defined technical tasks, developing features, and ensuring the smooth operation of our automated pipelines.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined developer who excels at taking Jira-defined requirements and turning them into functional code, submitting clean Merge Requests, and navigating rigorous change management processes to deploy high-quality solutions.

Core Responsibilities
  • Feature Development: Write, test, and maintain cloudnative code and scripts (PowerShell, Bash, JSON) specifically designed for AWS environments.
  • Pipeline Execution: Proactively monitor and trigger GitLab CI/CD pipelines, ensuring all unit tests and security scans pass prior to merging.
  • Process Adherence: Draft detailed Change Requests (CRs) for all production deployments, gathering necessary artifacts and test results for CAB approval.
  • Documentation: Maintain high standards of documentation by updating technical specs, API documentation, and team runbooks in Confluence.
  • Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in sprint cycles, providing daily status updates in Jira and collaborating with senior engineers to refine technical tasks.
  • Key Technical Expectations
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deploy and manage AWS resources using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Containerization: Experience managing containerized environments (ECS with Fargate or Rancher RKE2).
  • Configuration Management: Utilize AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for routine operations and manage secrets via AWS Parameter Store. Experience with Ansible is a plus.
  • Deployment Logistics: Experience with AWS StackSets for managing resources across multiple accounts and regions.
  • Version Control: Expert use of Git; submit functional code via Merge Requests and participate in active peer code reviews.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to interpret GitLab pipeline logs to identify and resolve basic build or test failures independently.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience Level: 1.5 3 years of professional experience in cloud development or DevOps engineering.
  • Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Interim or Secret clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Tools Proficiency: Proficient with GitLab, AWS, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Why Join SpatialGIS Services?

At SpatialGIS Services, we value precision, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a Level 2 Developer, you will be embedded in a team that prioritizes professional growth and technical excellence. You will have the opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure while honing your skills in modern cloud engineering practices.

SpatialGIS Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
