COC Consulting is a rapidly growing healthcare and laboratory consulting organization supporting healthcare providers, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, psychiatric hospitals, and other healthcare organizations throughout California and beyond. We are seeking an experienced California attorney to serve as Contract In-House Counsel in a flexible remote role.

Position Summary

COC Consulting is seeking a licensed California attorney to provide ongoing legal support on a contract basis for approximately 25โ€“30 hours per month. This is a remote position ideal for an attorney experienced in civil litigation, collections, legal drafting, and court filings who is comfortable operating independently while supporting a growing healthcare-focused organization.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of California civil procedure, be capable of preparing and filing court documents, managing responses to legal actions, handling collection-related matters, and assisting with light litigation and general corporate legal needs.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and file legal documents in California courts
  • Draft pleadings, motions, responses, demand letters, and related legal correspondence
  • Handle collections matters and related legal proceedings
  • Assist with civil litigation matters and dispute resolution
  • Respond to legal notices, complaints, and regulatory inquiries
  • Provide legal guidance regarding contracts, employment matters, and operational risks
  • Coordinate with outside counsel when necessary
  • Review and revise company agreements, policies, and business documents
  • Maintain compliance with applicable California laws and regulations
  • Provide timely legal recommendations to company leadership
Qualifications
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of relevant legal experience preferred
  • Experience with California civil litigation and collections
  • Strong understanding of California court filing procedures and deadlines
  • Ability to independently manage legal matters with minimal supervision
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience working remotely and managing deadlines effectively
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus but not required
