ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Quad Cities is seeking a part-time Communications Coordinator to lead local communications efforts through compelling storytelling, strategic content development, and audience engagement. This role serves as the primary communications partner for the local office, working collaboratively with program staff and the Home Office U.S. Advancement Department (USAD) to identify, develop, and share stories that communicate ministry impact and support fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating content for newsletters, blogs, website, donor communications, and social media while ensuring a consistent brand voice and adherence to World Relief's ethical storytelling standards. This position also manages the office's social media presence, coordinates newsletter production in partnership with USAD, and maintains a pipeline of stories and creative assets that support both local communications and national marketing initiatives.
This is a part-time position for 20 hours per week. Hybrid: 50% in Office, 50% WFH
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Development & Storytelling
  • Identify, gather, and develop compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of World Relief Quad Cities' programs and the resilience of the communities we serve.
  • Conduct interviews with program participants, staff, volunteers, church partners, and community stakeholders using ethical and dignity-centered storytelling practices.
  • Write and edit engaging content for blogs, newsletters, donor communications, website updates, annual reports, and other print and digital communications.
  • Capture high-quality photos, video, and other multimedia assets that support storytelling and organizational communications.
  • Ensure all content complies with World Relief's ethical storytelling standards, including informed consent and protection of participant privacy.
  • Gather supporting data and program information to strengthen stories and ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain an organized library of stories, photos, videos, and creative assets for future communications needs.
  • Maintain a content calendar that supports ongoing storytelling and aligns with organizational priorities.

Partnership with U.S. Advancement Department
  • Serve as the primary liaison between World Relief Quad Cities and USAD for content development and storytelling.
  • Provide timely stories, photos, videos, testimonials, and program updates to support local fundraising, marketing, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Collaborate with USAD to identify storytelling opportunities that align with organizational priorities and campaign calendars.
  • Participate in regular planning meetings with communications and advancement teams to coordinate content needs and messaging.

Social Media Management
  • Manage the office's social media presence across Facebook and Instagram
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content, including graphics, photos, videos, Stories, and Reels.
  • Monitor social media engagement and interact with audiences through comments, messages, and community engagement.
  • Analyze social media metrics and collaborate with USAD to improve reach, engagement, and content effectiveness.

  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standards
  • Audience-focused storytelling that translates complex program information into compelling content
  • Content development for blogs, newsletters, websites, email marketing, and social media Nonprofit fundraising communications and donor-centered storytelling
  • Strong project management, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Brand stewardship with consistent application of organizational guidelines
  • Photography, videography, and audio capture, including DSLR operation, lighting, composition, and sound quality
  • Intermediate photo and video editing, asset organization, and content preparation using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong attention to detail in content accuracy, consent documentation, and file management
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive approach to identifying and developing compelling stories
  • Proficiency with Instagram content formats (Reels, Stories, and static posts) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Commitment to serving refugees, immigrants, and other vulnerable communities

$23 - $24 an hour
