Position Overview

MercyOne Waterloo/Cedar Falls Behavioral Health Care is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) with Psychiatric Mental Health certification to join our established, well-respected, and growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy instant volume and collaborate with a strong multidisciplinary team.

Practice Highlights

  • Current team:

  • 1 General Psychiatrist

  • 1 Child Psychiatrist

  • 1 Psych Hospitalist

  • 1 ARNP

  • Clinic-based role with shared call responsibilities.

  • Call schedule:

  • Weekday: 1:5*

  • Weekend: 1:7*(*subject to change)Includes consults and inpatient unit coverage.

  • Facilities:

  • 20-bed Inpatient Unit at Waterloo Medical Center

  • Horizons Chemical Dependency Unit

  • Large support staff of psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and manage treatment plans for patients with mental health conditions.

  • Prescribe medications and monitor therapeutic responses.

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other health professionals to ensure continuity of care.

  • Provide patient education and support for families.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

Qualifications

  • Current Iowa license as a Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C).

  • Psychiatric Mental Health certification required .

  • Experience in behavioral health or psychiatry strongly desired.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, with shared call as noted above.
