Description
This part-time position is funded by a grant and is anticipated to be available for up to eighteen (18) months. Continued employment beyond the grant period is subject to the availability of additional funding and organizational needs.
This position is located in the City Manager's Office within the Homeless Solutions Division.
$25.71 Hourly
Average of 19 hours per week. Up to 1000 Hours Per Fiscal Year
Under supervision, performs a variety of technical, field, and administrative tasks involved in the operation of the homeless solutions division. Exercises no supervision.
Examples of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides outreach services, such as intake and assessment to the homeless populations and/or individuals who are mentally ill and/or developmentally disabled;
- Identify needs for housing assistance services and provides resources;
- Assists in the implementation of programs goals and objectives and provide recommendations;
- Transport clients to appropriate services, as needed;
- Work in close conjunction with non-profit organizations, local service providers, county entities, and faith-based organizations to obtain resources;
- Create and maintain case management files and progress reports;
- Act as City's liaison for outreach programs; establish and maintain effective relationships with governmental and community agencies regarding programs and services;
- Coordinate and/or assist in educational presentations for the public about homeless topics; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience:
- One year of experience working with homeless populations and/or individuals who are mentally ill and/or developmentally disabled.
- Some experience working with City, County and non-profit organizations.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- College level coursework in behavioral science is desirable.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.
Special requirements:
Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
- Ability to travel to different sites and locations;
- Regularly required to talk and hear, to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, bend and lift up to 50 lbs;
- Exposure to heat, cold, noise, outdoors, vibration, odors, and chemicals;
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
