Job description

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a friendly and detail oriented Barista to join our Coffee Bar!

Under the direction of the Dietary Manager, the Barista will prepare or serve hot or cold beverages such as coffees and teas to patients, patients’ families, and staff. Handle cash, process payments, and balance the register at the end of the day. Order inventory and stock items. Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment. The Barista will need to project a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining the confidentiality of the Hospital, patient, and employees as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions and Qualifications:

  • Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.
  • Describes product details to customers.
  • Receives and processes customer payments or charges employee badges as necessary.
  • Serves prepared foods and baked goods including cookies, muffins, or bagels.
  • Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
  • Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
  • Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
  • Follows all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to Multitask and stay organized.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, peers, physician offices, and patients.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years’ barista experience preferred.
