Job description

Overview

We are a busy ophthalmic practice looking for a Specialty and Soft Contact Lens Technician to join our fast paced team! BoozmanHof offers a full range of eye care services from routine vision exams to comprehensive medical exams.

This role is part time and based in our Bella Vista, AR, office.

Job Duties

  • Quickly engages each patient, establishes rapport, and assesses their needs.
  • Review patient insurance coverage and available rebate options. Advises patients on options. Submits prior authorizations as needed.
  • Reviews written prescriptions to determine the specifications for contact lenses; recommends appropriate contact lenses after considering the prescription and the patient's lifestyle needs.
  • Performs prescription analysis, verifies prescriptions, and places and fills orders with various labs/insurance companies.
  • Dispenses, fits and adjusts contact lenses. Performs over-refractions.
  • Records consultations into EMR for doctor approval.
  • Educates patients on different contact lens materials, fits, and options.
  • Trains patients on the proper procedure for wearing and care of daily or extended wear contacts, adapting to wearing contacts, visual hygiene, and safety.
  • Working knowledge of contact lens equipment and instruments.
  • Receives phone calls, triages patients, and returns voicemails daily.
  • Monitors trials and inventory levels; organizes and maintains fitting lane area daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical office: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Ophthalmology: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of (or ability to learn) medical office practices and medical terminology, CPT, and ICD 10 codes, contact lenses, medications and ocular disease processes.
