Job Announcement
District Wide Police Officer
The position of District Wide Police Officer is available immediately at East Central Independent School District. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. The deadline for submitting an application is until the position is filled.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Patrols district property to protect all students, personnel, and visitors from physical harm and prevent property loss due to theft or vandalism. Enforces all laws including municipal ordinances, county ordinances, and state laws. Works independently
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Monitor all vehicular and pedestrian traffic on campuses.
  2. Monitor parking areas and take action on vehicles illegally parked.
  3. Report any violations and file reports with the District Police Department.
  4. Monitor school grounds and property for any destruction or vandalism.
  5. Lock and unlock gates throughout the day as needed.
  6. Maintain a highly visible profile in and around campus throughout the day.
  7. Assist with emergency removal of students from campus to residence
  8. Maintain close working relationships with campus administrators.
  9. Provide security for athletic, campus and district events.
  10. Provide night patrol for the district when assigned.
  11. Use such force as authorized by law.
  12. On call duties as assigned
  13. Emergency on call 24 hours
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Note: Not all applicants will be interviewed. Each applicant's resume, application, and other available information will be considered in the screening process. Only those persons currently meeting all of the minimum requirements will be screened.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School or GED equivalent
  • Certified Texas Peace Officer License issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer. (TCOLE) with a Basic Peace Officer certification.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state of Texas operator's license and be acceptable to the East Central School District issuance authority for the operation of school district motor vehicles.
  • Police Bike Certification preferred.
  • School Based Law Enforcement Officer Certification preferred. (TCOLE)
  • Mental Health Officer Certification preferred. (TCOLE)
  • School based Law Enforcement experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug tests.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • General knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal laws,
  • Policing using the C.O.P.S. model of community policing,

EQUIPMENT USED: District vehicle, police bicycle, firearms, handcuffs, fire extinguisher, and/or police equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; operation of a motor vehicle; operation of a police bicycle; specific hearing and visual requirements; control of sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others, and rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions; works outdoors in varying climate conditions; drive in all different areas of the district at odd hours; may be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day.
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 230 days Full Time / Varies Part Time
