How much do part time chemical project manager jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time chemical project manager in the United States is $55.38, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $53.61 and $57.93 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do part-time chemical project managers typically balance project responsibilities with limited working hours?

Part-time chemical project managers often need to prioritize tasks and maintain strong communication with their teams to ensure project milestones are met despite reduced hours. They usually focus on critical project planning, stakeholder coordination, and risk management, delegating technical or time-intensive tasks to team members. Effective use of project management tools, clear documentation, and regular check-ins help maintain progress and alignment. Balancing these responsibilities requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to set realistic expectations with both clients and colleagues.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Chemical Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Chemical Project Manager, you need a solid background in chemical engineering or chemistry, project management experience, and typically a relevant degree. Familiarity with project management software (like MS Project), chemical safety regulations, and industry-specific tools such as process simulation software is often required. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills help in managing teams and coordinating projects efficiently on a part-time basis. These competencies ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, while meeting regulatory standards.

Is chemical engineering worth it in 2026?

Chemical engineering remains a valuable field in 2026, with strong demand in industries such as pharmaceuticals, energy, and environmental technology. Chemical project managers with technical expertise, project management skills, and familiarity with industry-specific tools are likely to find good job prospects and career growth opportunities.

Can a chemical engineer make 200k a year?

A chemical engineer can potentially earn $200,000 annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced certifications, managerial responsibilities, or working in high-paying industries like oil and gas or pharmaceuticals. However, such salaries are typically achieved through senior roles, specialized skills, or in certain geographic regions with higher cost of living and compensation standards.

What is the average hourly rate of a project manager?

The average hourly rate of a project manager varies based on industry, experience, and location, but typically ranges from $30 to $70 per hour. In specialized fields like chemical project management, rates can be higher, especially for those with advanced certifications and technical expertise.

What is the difference between Part Time Chemical Project Manager vs Chemical Engineer?

AspectPart Time Chemical Project ManagerChemical Engineer

Employer & Industry UsageUsed by consulting firms, chemical companies, and project-based organizationsCommon in chemical manufacturing, research labs, and industrial plants

The Part Time Chemical Project Manager focuses on overseeing specific projects with flexible hours, requiring project management skills and industry knowledge. Both roles require chemical industry credentials but differ in scope, work environment, and employment structure.

What does a Part Time Chemical Project Manager do?

A Part Time Chemical Project Manager oversees chemical-related projects on a part-time basis, ensuring that objectives are met within set timelines and budgets. They coordinate teams, manage project schedules, maintain safety and regulatory compliance, and communicate progress to stakeholders. Unlike full-time managers, they typically handle fewer projects or work reduced hours, which can offer flexibility for both the employer and the manager. Their work is essential in industries like pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and research, where specialized chemical knowledge and project management skills are required.

Can a project manager work part-time?

Yes, a project manager can work part-time, especially in industries like chemicals where flexible schedules are possible. Part-time project management roles may require strong organizational skills and familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project or Asana.
