Job description

Are you a customer service-oriented individual that can remain calm in high pressure situations? The Indianapolis Zoo is looking for a dynamic Membership Services Coordinator who will go above and beyond for all our Indianapolis Zoo members and guests.

This is a part-time position with a consistent schedule Monday-Friday. During peak membership months (typically October through December) the schedule will average 29 hours per week. From January through October, the schedule will average 20 hours per week.

As part of the Membership Services team, this role is instrumental in promoting the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. This position requires a professional attitude and demeanor and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are crucial to this position's success.


What You'll Do

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of membership categories, benefits and policies.
  • Act as first point of contact answering calls that come to the Zoo's membership line.
  • Log and return voicemails.
  • Process and fulfill memberships, including entering, renewing and correcting records; printing and mailing membership materials daily.
  • Handle customer service issues including answering membership and general Zoo questions via phone and email.
  • Maintain competency with Galaxy POS System and Microsoft Excel.
  • Perform general data entry including, but not limited to, creating memberships, correcting and updating membership records.
  • Maintain an energetic, professional, cooperative, courteous and positive attitude while interacting with peers, coworkers and the public.

What We're Looking For

  • One (1) year of related work experience in a customer-facing role is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain competency in live-chat and Gateway ticketing software.
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is required.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in data entry or working with membership/ticketing software.
  • Experience with CRM systems, Galary or email marketing platforms.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
