Job description

Lehman College’s School for Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is seeking qualified Allied Healthcare Instructors to facilitate in-person and online instruction. Successful candidates will be appointed as a Continuing Education Teacher (CET) eligible to teach courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Patient Care, Clinical Nursing Skills, Phlebotomy, and EKG. Candidates should be familiar with online teaching technologies such as Zoom to facilitate online instruction in addition to in-person instructional skills.

Title: Continuing Education Teacher (CET)
Employer: Lehman College, School for Continuing and Professional Studies
Teaching Schedule: Part-Time Flexible Schedule Required.
All In-person sessions are held at CUNY on the Concourse (COTC), 2501 Grand Concourse, 3rd Floor Bronx

Availability: Must be available to teach a class at least twice per week

Responsibilities:

  • Providing quality instruction to Allied Health students.
  • Facilitating in-person and online courses aligned with healthcare certification requirements.
  • Maximize student learning technologies (such as google classroom, Zoom, Moodle, etc.).
  • Maintaining official student records, including attendance rosters, sign-in sheets, and quiz and final grade sheets.
  • Providing routine feedback on student skills and academic performance.
  • Build assessments designed to measure student learning and preparedness for credentialing exams.
  • Teaching clinical skills training in simulation labs to build student confidence.
  • Supervising clinical experience at healthcare facilities, if required for certification.
  • Providing feedback to students in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining awareness of credential requirements and updates to certifying exams.
  • Keeping your healthcare credentials up to date (CPR, etc.)
  • Participating in faculty meetings and professional development training as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Educational and professional qualifications appropriate to teaching assignments, current industry certification, and licenses required.
  • For CNA - Active NYS Registered Nurse License with a minimum of 2 yrs. experience of classroom teaching and clinical instruction.
  • Passionate about teaching adult New Yorkers who are starting their careers in healthcare.
  • Experienced in online instruction via Zoom, Google Classroom, MS Teams or Moodle
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (preferred)
