Job description

Responsibilities
As the window of TikTok's business services, our TikTok UED Monetization team aims to enable clients to effortlessly connect with audiences and maximize brand potential. We want to ease and inspire clients to achieve their goals, explore more possibilities, and create value with TikTok. We're hiring a Design System Design Intern to help evolve Keystone, the design system powering TikTok's Monetization products (ads and business-facing experiences). Keystone enables product teams to build consistent, high-quality UI through reusable components, patterns, and guidance-improving both user experience and product development efficiency. As an intern, you'll contribute directly to Keystone's core libraries and documentation, partnering with design system designers and cross-functional teams (product design, engineering, content design) to ship scalable system improvements that land in real product surfaces. Internships at Our Company aims to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. Candidates can apply to a maximum of two positions and will be considered for jobs in the order you apply. The application limit is applicable to Our Company and its affiliates' jobs globally. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - we encourage you to apply early. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date). In this role, you will: - Design or extend components, variants, and patterns (e.g., forms, navigation, tables, empty/error states), and create scalable specs (states, interactions, responsive behavior, accessibility). - Improve usage guidance, do/don't examples, and rationale to reduce ambiguity for product teams. Help maintain libraries and documentation across Figma + Keystone website. - Assist with UI audits for consistency and system alignment. Support adoption and migration by mapping legacy patterns to Keystone equivalents and clarifying best-practice usage. - Partner with engineers to ensure feasibility and crisp handoff. Participate in critiques and design reviews; incorporate feedback quickly and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Product Design / Interaction Design / HCI / Visual Communication (or equivalent experience). - Strong fundamentals in UI craft and interaction thinking (states, flows, usability). - Comfort working in Figma (components, variants, auto layout, styles/tokens preferred). - Must be able to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2027. Preferred Qualifications - Basic understanding of design systems concepts: tokens, component design, governance, accessibility. - Experience collaborating with engineers (class projects or hackathons count). - Familiarity with accessibility basics (WCAG concepts, keyboard navigation, contrast). - Experience applying AI tools in design workflows (e.g., drafting guidance, synthesizing feedback, generating UI variations), with thoughtful judgment on quality, bias, and privacy.
