Position Summary Information
Position PurposeCommonwealth University Workforce Development is seeking qualified, experienced instructors to teach noncredit
NHA certification preparation courses for the following programs:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
- Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)
These courses prepare adult learners to successfully sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exams.
Classes are generally offered in the
evening and
weekends on the
Bloomsburg and Mansfield campuses and designed for working professionals seeking NHA certification.
Description of Duties - Deliver high-quality instruction aligned to the NHA content outlines and competency standards for CCMA, CPT, and CBCS.
- Engage diverse adult learners using effective methodologies, in-person.
- Administer assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure learner success.
- Support students in exam preparation, remediation, and professional readiness.
- Coordinate with Workforce Development leadership on course schedules, materials, and progress reporting.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and documentation as required.

- Clinical Medical Assisting
- Phlebotomy

- Ability to translate exam-aligned content into engaging instruction for adult learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation to the Bloomsburg and/or Mansfield campus.
- Ability to teach in the evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications - Current NHA certification(s) (CCMA, CPT, and/or CBCS).
- Previous experience teaching or training in a classroom setting.
- Familiarity with adult education principles and workforce training.
