The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Part-Time Digital Media Specialist at St. Gerard Majella Parish and School is responsible for creating and managing engaging digital and visual content that supports the parish’s mission. Working collaboratively with the Communications Coordinator, this role focuses on social media, photography, video production, and emerging platforms to promote parish life, highlight events, and foster deeper engagement within the parish community and beyond. This position requires 8-10 hours per week as well. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Content Creation and Storytelling

  • Capture photography and video at parish and school events, liturgies, and special occasions
  • Plan and produce multimedia content, including event highlights, interviews, and reflections
  • Edit and prepare photos and videos for use across communication platforms
  • Maintain an organized digital media library
  • Explore and develop podcast or other audio content opportunities
  • Assist with livestreaming Masses and special events as needed

Social Media Management

  • Manage and grow the parish’s social media presence (e.g., Facebook, YouTube)
  • Create and schedule engaging content that informs, inspires, and evangelizes
  • Monitor engagement and respond appropriately to comments and messages
  • Stay current with social media trends and best practices
  • Ensure all communications reflect the teachings, values, and identity of the Catholic Church

Collaboration and Mission Alignment

  • Work closely with the Communications Coordinator and parish office staff
  • Support the bulletin, website, and newsletter with multimedia content
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels
  • Contribute to the overall communication strategy of the parish
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management, photography, and video production
  • Proficiency with content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Strong visual storytelling and creative skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Practicing Catholic with an understanding of Catholic identity and mission
  • Demonstrates pastoral sensitivity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Passion for evangelization and community engagement
