What is a part time calendar clerk?

A Part Time Calendar Clerk is an administrative professional who assists with scheduling, maintaining, and updating calendars—often for courtrooms, legal teams, or offices—on a part-time basis. Their responsibilities typically include organizing hearings, appointments, or meetings, communicating with attorneys or staff, and ensuring that schedules are accurate and up to date. Working part time means they usually work fewer than 40 hours per week, offering flexibility for both the employer and the employee. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are important for this role.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a part time calendar clerk, and how does this role support the legal team?

A Part Time Calendar Clerk is responsible for managing and updating the court calendar, scheduling hearings, depositions, and other legal appointments, and ensuring that attorneys and legal staff are aware of upcoming deadlines. This role often involves working closely with paralegals, attorneys, and other clerks to confirm dates, avoid scheduling conflicts, and maintain accurate records. Effective communication and attention to detail are essential, as the accuracy of calendar entries can directly impact case outcomes. While the position may be part-time, it plays a crucial role in keeping the legal team organized and ensuring smooth case flow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time calendar clerk, and why are they important?
