Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Fiber Optic Field Support Specialist - Part-Time. Technical Field Specialist personnel provides product training, new product introduction, promote and assist in gathering information and customer feedback while promoting Corning Optical Communications Quality policies and best practices to customers of Corning Optical Communications in their specific territories.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide after the sale training and field support of Corning Optical Communications fiber optic cable and hardware installations (Inside Plant and Outside Plant).
  • Actively pursue competitive information and report back to Sales.
  • Support field trials and product evaluations for fiber optic cable and hardware installations.
  • Support Sales demonstrations/presentations and trade shows
  • Support Data Center and fiber to the home (FTTH) installations
  • Perform training, troubleshooting and field support for both single and ribbon fiber splicing.
  • Teach Tier 1 (light source and power meter) and Tier 2 (OTDR) fiber optic cable field testing applications.
  • Instruct fiber optic installation classes up to 25 students as a qualified instructor or a technical assist role.

Experiences/Education - Required
  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Fiber Optics
  • Possess a driver's license and be insurable.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.

Experiences/Education - Desired
  • Spanish a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products

Location and Travel Requirements
  • Based anywhere within the state of Colorado
  • Will travel 50% of the time within Colorado

The range for this position is $35.00 hourly rate - $40.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
