Zayo is seeking a Director of Inside Plant (ISP) Engineering for Zayo is a strong technical leader to oversee a team of highly technical engineers responsible for design, assign, and capacity management of Zayo’s facilities’ rack space, power, riser, and related physical infrastructure supporting Zayo’s world class network.  Within this group, team members support our network engineers in the deployment of network electronics by assigning and/or building space and power needed by the equipment.

The Director of ISP Engineering will lead complex solutioning with cross functional alignment, maintain strong and predictable productivity from team members, and ensure solutions are deployed to the quality and standards required. A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate past experience and ability to manage a high volume, technically detailed group of engineers, ensuring both intervals and quality targets are met. As a senior leader, the Director will support training and development of team members to foster Zayo’s next generation of amazing leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, vision and direct oversight for infrastructure engineering teams and people managers in the design and deployment of Zayo’s data center infrastructure.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams, encouraging professional development and skill enhancement. 

  • Drive deployment of multiple strategic projects including infrastructure build outs, capability enablement, market optimization, and data integrity.

  • Directly support cross functional teams by providing leadership and prioritization, removing roadblocks, and implement process and system improvements to improve efficiency.

  • Develop and document program operation for all initiatives.  Provide regular reporting on performance.

  • Manage vendors as needed to provide products and services needed to perform groups’ activities.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to inform strategic decisions and engineering practices.

  • Direct responsibility for leading, developing, and supporting a team of managers, engineers, and project managers overseeing the design and implementation of space and power related network needs. 

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  

  • Develop, implement, and support team strategies for ISP managers, engineers, and project managers to ensure they are aligned with overall ISP leadership objectives.

  • Monitoring overall ISP performance against established metrics, prepares executive readout used for weekly board of Directors readout.

  • Ensuring that Field ISP is meeting and/or exceeding financial targets and scheduled timelines. 

  • Appraising manager performances to initiate mentoring opportunities.

  • Effectively manage strategic changes (process and people) to ensure Field ISP goals are being met in support of ELT and Board of Directors vision and initiatives.

  • Develop process improvements to increase revenue and decrease costs.

  • Lead a large team to deliver planning and operations meetings in support of ISP leadership objectives.

  • Serving as the second level contact for internal/external escalations.

  • This position may require 10-30% travel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or minimum of ten (10) years equivalent work experience in central office installation - telecommunications industry.

  • Strong leadership and team building experience managing technical personnel.

  • Ability to communicate technical topics clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Ability to communicate strategic topics clearly and effectively with direct reports and their teams.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and multitasking abilities are a must.

  • Escalation resolution skills are a must.

  • Proficient in the project management of tight timelines and schedules.

  • Demonstrated experience with inside plant construction and installation standards.

  • Strong understanding of colocation and data center technologies.

  • Proven experience with DC Power Plant systems, fiber connectivity, and cabling.

  • Familiarity with telecommunications transport equipment.

  • Familiarity with outside plant construction.

  • Demonstrated investigational and problem solving skills.

  • Proficient with SalesForce, Metasolv, MS Word, Excel, Visio, and Google Docs.

  • Knowledge of SiteTracker, Confluence, Trello, AutoCad, and GE SmallWorld is a plus.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

Estimated Base Salary Range: $137,600 - $196,550 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
