Job description

Installer / Technician (ISP/OSP)

BICSI Level II Certified

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Installer/Technician with an active BICSI Level II Installer Certification to support construction, installation, and maintenance activities across Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional experienced in structured cabling, fiber and copper systems, and field coordination, with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

ISP / OSP Installation & Construction

  • Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling systems in ISP and OSP environments
  • Perform fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical), copper termination, and enclosure setup per BICSI, ANSI/TIA, and NEC standards
  • Install pathways, raceways, racks, cabinets, grounding, and bonding systems
  • Support aerial and underground OSP work including handholes, vaults, conduit, and fiber placement

Testing, Documentation & Quality

  • Conduct certification testing using OTDRs, power meters, and copper test equipment
  • Accurately document test results, redlines, as-builts, and installation records
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements

Field Operations & Safety

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and scope documents
  • Coordinate daily field activities with project managers, engineers, and other trades
  • Adhere to all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety protocols, including traffic control when required
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and materials in a safe, organized, and job-ready condition

Customer & Team Interaction

  • Represent the company professionally while working in active facilities, public rights-of-way, and customer premises
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, customers, inspectors, and team members
  • Assist with troubleshooting and service restoration as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active BICSI Level II Installer Certification (required)
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of hands-on ISP/OSP installation experience
  • Proficiency with fiber optic and copper cabling systems
  • Experience with testing equipment (OTDR, light source/power meter, copper certifiers)
  • Ability to read prints, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Strong understanding of industry codes and standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, NEC)
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to travel to job sites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FTTH, DAS, or large-scale telecom infrastructure projects
  • Aerial and/or underground construction experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Confined space or traffic control certification
  • Ability to mentor junior technicians
