Job Title Part Time - Business Computer Applications Location Colusa County Campus - Williams, CA Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Division Dean, provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, develop and assess student learning outcomes, and perform other instructional duties as assigned. Provide a welcome and inclusive environment with diverse students can succeed.
Essential Duties Summary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organize and instruct classes in Business Computer Applications and Office Administration included but not limited to: Business Computer Applications-Beginning, Introduction to Computing, Microsoft Word II & III, Microsoft Excel II & II, Microsoft Access II & III, Records management, Adobe Acrobat, Computer Keyboarding, Computer Calculation.
  • Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter.
  • Promote and model professionalism as an educator and business professional; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Comply with all institutional policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses.
  • Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester.
  • Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.

REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Business as governed by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)
Office technology or computer information systems:
  • DISCIPLINES REQUIRING ANY DEGREE AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE.
  • OR the equivalent (Must apply through YCCD's Equivalency Application Process).
    • Equivalency Requirement: All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District (YCCD) by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. This ensures that candidates either meet the standard qualifications or have received official recognition of their equivalent qualifications.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have competency in all areas of applied business technology courses normally taught in a community college or in the first two years of a university.
  • Must be flexible in the acceptance of new and changing teaching assignments.
  • Must have the ability not only to adjust teaching skills to meet varying needs of the community and changing student interests but must also have the ability to organize and implement programs to meet these needs.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

The Yuba Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. Part-time instructor positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.

Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.
