Job Summary

We are seeking an organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage our daily financial activities. This is an on-site position based in either our Portland, ME or Danvers, MA office. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small office environment, enjoys working independently, and is looking for a consistent schedule of 20 to 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • ERP Maintenance: Process financial transactions and maintain the general ledger within our ERP system.
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Review vendor invoices, code accounts, and manage timely payments.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Create customer invoices, apply payments, and monitor aging reports.
  • Reconciliations: Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure record accuracy.
  • Journal Entries: Prepare and post necessary entries for accurate month-end closing.
  • Small Office Support: Manage physical documentation, handle incoming financial mail, and assist with general office tasks to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Presence: Ability to work consistently on-site at the designated office location.
  • Experience: 2+ years of professional bookkeeping experience, ideally in an industrial or distribution setting.
  • Software Skills: Experience with NetSuite is preferred but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and prior experience with any major accounting software is required.
