Job description

At the Skunk Train, we are looking for an enthusiastic, safety-minded Part-Time Railbike Guide to join our team and help create unforgettable outdoor experiences for our guests. In this role, you’ll lead groups on railbikes through scenic railroad routes, provide clear safety instructions and procedures on equipment use, share local history and points of interest, and ensure every rider feels confident and welcomed. If you enjoy working with people, love being outdoors, and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, we’d love to meet you!


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist guests with their bike rentals (including checking in via an online reservation system).
  • Conduct a safety briefing prior to each departure.
  • Conduct a daily written inspection on bikes and make minor repairs to bikes and running gear.
  • Clean and sanitize bikes and gear prior to each use.
  • Guide guests on bike rides (this means you will be peddling up and down the tracks multiple times per day).
  • Turn bikes around for guests.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer service role.
  • Pre-employment drug screen (including medical marijuana) and background check required prior to hiring.
  • An active individual who enjoys working outside in mixed fast paced environment.
  • Bike repair/Mechanical skills preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate the web (using our web-based reservation system).


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Multiple bike rides (recumbent style) per day (up to 6 roundtrips which could be up 42 miles).
  • Occasional lifting of bikes and other heavy items.
  • Lifting up to 35 lbs.; bending, pushing, pulling, pedaling.

  • Employment is part-time, seasonal.
