Are you passionate about bikes and looking to turn your hands-on experience into a long-term career? At Whizz, we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Bike Mechanic Trainees.

This role is designed for candidates with some mechanical experience and hands-on experience repairing or maintaining bikes — whether through personal projects, freelance work, or other informal experience — who may not yet have professional bike shop experience.

You’ll work alongside experienced mechanics, receive hands-on training, and learn how to maintain and repair our fleet of e-bikes used by delivery riders across New York City. Successful trainees who complete the probation period will have the opportunity to transition into a full Bike Mechanic role with increased compensation and additional benefits.

Earn $18/hour during the training and probation period.

Work directly with experienced mechanics who will guide and support your development.

Successful trainees may be promoted to full Bike Mechanics with access to higher compensation and performance-based bonuses.

• Assist with assembling and preparing new e-bikes in our workshop
• Learn how to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical bike issues
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on our fleet
• Support senior mechanics with day-to-day workshop operations
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality standards
• Follow safety procedures and workshop guidelines

Requirements

• Hands-on experience repairing or maintaining bicycles
• Interest in developing a long-term career as a bike mechanic
• Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift heavy objects
• Availability on weekdays and weekends
• Experience with e-bikes is a plus, but not required
