Job Description:
  • The Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse will be committed to promoting mental health through the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral problems, mental disorders, and comorbid conditions across the lifespan.
  • The RN will provide, structures, and maintains a safe, therapeutic, recovery-oriented environment in collaboration with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary care team. The RN integrates knowledge of pharmacological, biological, and complementary interventions with applied clinical skills, in order to assist the patient in their individual recovery by improving and regaining their previous coping abilities, fostering mental health, and preventing mental disorder and disability.
  • Through the use of the therapeutic relationship, nursing interventions, and educational programming, the RN assists in progress towards individualized treatment goals in the acute care, crisis-stabilization inpatient setting.
  • The RN provides direct supervision to nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses, and behavioral health specialists to ensure the safety of the patient in the milieu/care environment.
  • Responsible and accountable for providing quality professional nursing care to patients and their families and significant others adhering to the WI Nurse Practice Act, Administrative Code of the WI Board of Nursing, and/or appropriate nursing standards governing nursing in the state of practice, the ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and Bellin Health Policies and Procedures.
  • The responsibility includes providing a safe environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary health care team to provide the best outcomes for the patient. Community involvement and collaboration are encouraged.
  • This position will be working within the Intake/Triage Unit of the Inpatient Facility.
Qualifications:
  • WI RN License required; BSN preferred but not required.
  • Certification encouraged in job specialty.
  • Psychiatric RN experience is preferred.
