JOB SUMMARY:

The Sonography Program Director provides strategic leadership and overall administration of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, ensuring curriculum quality, accreditation compliance, and student success. This role oversees program planning, implementation, evaluation, faculty recruitment and development, clinical site partnerships, student clinical placements, and the coordination of educational resources. The Director collaborates with faculty, staff, clinical agencies, and accreditation bodies to maintain high academic and professional standards, supports student advising and orientation, teaches within the program, and serves as a mentor, advocate, and representative of the program within the college and broader healthcare community. Additionally, the Director promotes continuous quality improvement, develops program policies and procedures, participates in scholarly and professional activities, and contributes to institutional initiatives and committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - Licensures:

Master’s degree in Business, Education or health related field. Holds the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification or equivalent in abdominal, obstetrics/gynecology, vascular, and adult echocardiography.

Experience:

A minimum of two years of full-time experience within the immediate past five years including three years experience in the professional discipline, and two years experience in an administrative role.

Knowledge:

Knowledge and skill in the application of the principles and practices of educational leadership and administration. Expert knowledge and skill in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation as well as student academic affairs and management of resources.

ABILITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS:

There are many roles within which a faculty member is expected to perform. These require a wide range of knowledge and skills some of which include: the ability to use teaching, learning, and curriculum development and evaluation principles; interpersonal skills which include the use of group process and counseling/guidance principles; computer competency in word processing, file management and internal/external e-mail; and leadership abilities which encompasses organizational skills, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
