Part Time Audio information

What is a part time audio technician?

Part-time audio jobs involve working with sound in various capacities, such as audio editing, sound engineering, podcast production, or live event support, but on a less-than-full-time basis. These roles can be found in radio stations, music studios, theaters, or even remotely for content creators. Part-time audio professionals are often responsible for setting up audio equipment, mixing and mastering tracks, or troubleshooting sound issues. This flexibility allows individuals to gain industry experience, supplement income, or balance other commitments while working in audio. Qualifications may vary, but technical skills and an ear for detail are generally important.

What are common challenges faced by part time audio technicians, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time audio technicians often juggle varying schedules and work environments, which can make it challenging to maintain consistency in workflow and communication with full-time staff. They may also encounter limited access to ongoing training or be required to quickly adapt to different audio setups and equipment. To address these challenges, it's helpful to establish clear communication channels with the team, proactively seek feedback, and take advantage of online resources or workshops to stay updated on audio technology and best practices.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a part time audio technician?

To thrive as a Part Time Audio Technician, you need knowledge of sound engineering principles, experience with audio equipment setup, and often a relevant certification or technical training. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs), mixing consoles, microphones, and live sound systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are important soft skills in this role. These qualifications ensure high-quality audio production, smooth event execution, and efficient troubleshooting during live or recorded sessions.

What is the difference between Part Time Audio vs Part Time Video?

Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Jazz are looking for an energetic and charismatic In-Arena Emcee to bring the game day experience to life! We are searching for someone who has a passionate and dynamic voice, a strong and distinct presence, and a love for Utah Jazz basketball. As an in-arena voice for the Utah Jazz, you will command the microphone, energize the crowd, emcee several contests and promotions each night, and engage fans on the concourse and throughout the arena. This is a part-time, seasonal position and the candidate must be available to work all preseason, regular, and postseason games. The NBA regular season is from October through April. The post-season could extend into June.
Applicants are required to submit a 60 second video recording (no longer, please) introducing yourself and any pertinent information you would like us to know about yourself. This should be video, not just audio. Applicants should also submit their personal highlight reel of past professional experience.
  • Please make sure the video is of the person auditioning.
  • Please use your first and last name as your video title (Example: firstname_lastname_audition).
  • Applications missing the introductory video or highlight reel will not be considered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as one of the in-arena personalities by emceeing contests, facilitating nightly promotions, and driving fan excitement across all levels of the arena.
  • Foster collaborative and mutually respectful partnerships with directors and fellow talent to achieve unified entertainment goals.
  • Demonstrate extreme agility in high-pressure scenarios, utilizing an in-ear monitor to pivot seamlessly during live game-day entertainment.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset by actively applying feedback to refine performance.
  • Utilize superior interpersonal skills to forge meaningful connections with our diverse community of Jazz fans.
  • Maintain strict punctuality for all production meetings, technical rehearsals, and home games.
  • Embody a consistently vibrant and energetic persona that radiates throughout the venue.
  • Ensure availability for afternoon production calls (starting at 1 P.M.) and evening gameday rehearsals (starting at 4:30 P.M).
  • Observe the crowd and the environment for any safety issues and respond appropriately as needed
  • Protect the reputation of the company
  • Exemplify the Utah Jazz mission and values: transparent, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappy
  • Accept other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in live event emceeing or on-court sports hosting required.
  • Ability to enunciate clearly, accurately, and project to a large crowd.
  • Possess a background in unscripted commentary or improvisational performance.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail to effectively represent and deliver key messaging for our corporate partners.
  • A strong, distinct voice is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Due to the nature of this role's event and gameday work, the employee must live within a commutable distance from the Salt Lake City area for the duration of the season.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required, encompassing every Utah Jazz home game with potential opportunities to host various partner events or corporate activations.
  • This person must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • This is a non-benefitted, seasonal, part-time position. Pay is based on a game rate.
  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
