Job description

Clinical Intake/Assessment Specialist (Part-Time) – Mental Health Outpatient Services

Locations: York & Mechanicsburg, PA
Schedule: Part-Time | Daytime and Evening Hours (Monday - Friday)

Arkview Behavioral Health is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Intake/Assessment Specialist to support our growing outpatient mental health programs in York and Mechanicsburg. This role serves as the first point of contact for prospective clients, conducting intake assessments, building rapport, identifying treatment needs, and helping individuals take the next step toward recovery and wellness. The ideal candidate is skilled at engaging clients, addressing barriers to treatment, and guiding individuals through the admissions process with compassion and professionalism.

The successful candidate will combine strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to build trust, foster motivation for change, and help individuals successfully connect with treatment services.

**Candidates must have a Masters Degree with a practicum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake and level of care assessments for prospective clients.
  • Gather psychosocial, clinical, and diagnostic information to support treatment recommendations.
  • Build rapport with prospective clients and their families while providing education about available services.
  • Utilize engagement and motivational interviewing techniques to help individuals overcome barriers to treatment and increase commitment to care.
  • Guide clients through the admissions process and facilitate timely enrollment in appropriate services.
  • Coordinate referrals and admissions to the appropriate level of care.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, and administrative teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation.
  • Travel between the York and Mechanicsburg outpatient locations as needed.
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field required including a practicum.
  • Experience completing level of care assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience in mental health, substance use, healthcare admissions, case management, or client engagement preferred.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, and community resources.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage prospective clients and support treatment enrollment.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing or other client engagement techniques preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including daytime and evening hours.
