Job description

Is Hickok Cole What's Next for You?
We're a forward-focused architecture and interior design practice connecting bold ideas, diverse expertise, and partners with vision to do work that matters - to our clients, our communities, and to each other. We're also a sociable group who like - and know how - to have fun. We work out of an inspiring studio in Union Market at 301 N St. NE, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20002.
Most importantly, we're always looking for inspired people to inspire us. Are you curious about the future of architecture and interior design? Are you energized by improving how teams design, document, and collaborate? Do you enjoy experimenting, teaching others, and translating new technology into real, usable workflows? If so, you may be exactly who we're looking for.
We are seeking an AI / BIM Specialist to help advance how our teams use Revit-based tools, AI-assisted design workflows, and Microsoft Copilot across architecture and interior design projects. This role may be full-time or part-time, depending on experience and qualifications.
What We're Looking For
  • 6-12 years of experience working in architecture and/or interior design environments, with a strong understanding of real project workflows from concept through construction
  • Deep knowledge of Revit and BIM-based project delivery, including model setup, standards, coordination, and quality control
  • Hands-on experience using or implementing AI tools in design and documentation workflows, with current focus on:
    • Microsoft Copilot (documentation, coordination, knowledge management, and workflow automation)
    • Veras and Revit-based AI tools for visualization, iteration, and design exploration
  • Ability to analyze existing workflows and practically integrate AI tools into how architects and interior designers actually work
  • Experience supporting or training project teams, including setting standards, developing guidance, and providing day-to-day support
  • Strong understanding of architectural and interiors deliverables, consultant coordination, and construction documentation
  • Clear communicator who can translate technical tools into approachable, usable guidance
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with design leadership, project managers, and firm leadership
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Valid U.S. work authorization

What You Will Do
  • Serve as a firmwide resource for AI and BIM workflows across architecture and interior design projects
  • Lead the integration of Microsoft Copilot into project delivery, coordination, and operations workflows
  • Support and evolve the use of Veras and other Revit-based AI tools for design iteration, visualization, and early-phase exploration
  • Develop and maintain clear AI and BIM standards, best practices, and guidance aligned with real project needs
  • Partner with project teams to:
    • Improve efficiency and consistency in modeling and documentation
    • Reduce rework and streamline coordination
    • Maintain design intent while leveraging automation and AI assistance
  • Provide hands-on support, coaching, and training to staff at varying experience levels
  • Collaborate with design and operations leadership to identify where AI tools can add value - and where they should not be applied
  • Test, evaluate, and help pilot emerging tools relevant to architecture and interiors practice
  • Contribute to firm-wide knowledge sharing, training sessions, and internal innovation initiatives

What We Prefer (But Don't Require)
  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field
  • Architectural licensure or interior design certification
  • Experience developing or rolling out firmwide standards or tools
  • Experience with visualization, rendering, or AI-assisted image generation workflows
  • Comfort presenting tools and workflows to groups with varied technical backgrounds

What We Offer
  • Remote Work (up to 2 days per week) + Flexible Schedules
  • Paid Leave + Holidays
  • 401(k) Employee Savings Plan
  • Health + Dental Insurance
  • Group Life Insurance
  • Mentoring Program
  • Company Laptop + Standing Desk
  • 24 Hours of Paid Volunteer Time Per Year
  • Monthly Team Social Events
  • iLAB Research Microgrant Program
  • Annual Summer Picnic + Holiday Party
  • Fully Stocked Model Shop
  • Dedicated Virtual Reality Space + Tools

Qualified applicants should submit a resume and brief statement of interest (portfolio optional, if applicable) to:
