Job description

Part-Time Faculty - CPD Composite Technology
Teaching CPD Composite Technology related courses.
Applications for part-time faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed if openings become available. These positions are not current vacancies. Instructors employed as part-time faculty are not entitled to all the rights, privileges, and benefits of regular, full-time employees. Part-time faculty are hired on an "as needed" basis and will work for the duration of time specified by the respective course. A portion of teaching assignment may be evening classes and possibly weekend classes. Faculty are assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on the teaching area and the needs of students and the College, which may require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location.
Position may require standing for extended periods of time, stooping, walking, climbing, and bending to supervise students. Exposure to hazardous materials is possible and will require safe handling, use and disposal. Some classes require using flammable and/or inert high-pressure gasses, and using high-pressure hydraulic equipment. Lifting, and positioning of heavy equipment in preparation for classes and labs may be required. Work may be required in an environment that varies from hot to cold (seasonal) which can be both noisy and dusty.
Duties include:
  • Provide students with technical instruction in a safe and clean learning environment.
  • Utilize teaching strategies and instructional materials for various learning styles.
  • Evaluate student mastery of skills in:
    • Ability to read and correctly interpret blueprints and schematics.
    • Use of precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers in order to trim or drill parts.
    • Ability to lay out articles, cut parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
    • Performing structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and foaming adhesives.
    • Performing vacuum bagging and related processes for fabrication and curing composite parts vacuum bagging processes
    • Ability to operate autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete bonding cycle
    • Ability to calculate proper proportions of resins and catalysts as required by specifications.
    • Verifying quality of finished product.
    • Completing repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions
    • And any other skill sets as required
  • Conduct assessments as required per the curriculum.
  • May require administrative duties such as maintaining records, taking attendance, tracking evaluations, ordering supplies, equipment and inventory control and other related duties.
  • May be required to maintain clean, secure, orderly, and safe classrooms, laboratories, equipment, and materials.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in composites, materials science, aviation/aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Three (3) plus years of documented experience in: aviation, automotive, marine, manufacturing, or a technically related field specializing in advanced composite structural fabrication and repair.
  • One (1) year or more of teaching composite/materials science courses and/or technical material.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in a materials science, composites, aviation/aerospace, manufacturing, engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Five (5) plus years documented experience in: aviation, automotive, marine, manufacturing, or a technically related field specializing in advanced composite structural fabrication and repair.
  • Three (3) plus years teaching composite/materials science courses and/or technical material.

Salary Grade: AH
Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
