Salary/Hourly Rate: $16.00 - $20.00/hour (Dependent on experience and certification)
Position Overview
Ukiah School District is seeking a welcoming, organized, and detail-oriented Part-Time School
Secretary to join our main office team. As the first point of contact for families, students, and
visitors, you will play a vital role in creating a positive, safe, and efficient environment for
our school community.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at multitasking,
and loves interacting with children and adults alike.
Key Responsibilities
1. Front Office & Customer Service
• Greet and assist students, parents, staff, and community visitors with a warm, professional
demeanor.
• Answer phone calls, route inquiries to the appropriate staff, and take accurate
messages.
• Manage the school's main entry system, ensuring all visitors sign in and follow district
security protocols.
2. Administrative Support
• Assist with daily school communications, including morning announcements, staff reminders, and
parent newsletters.
• Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for student records and administrative
office files.
3. Student & Staff Logistics
• Provide basic first aid or comfort to students requiring minor medical attention in the absence
of the school nurse (training provided).
• Assist with the coordination of school events, picture days, or field trip
documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; some formal training or college preferred
• Experience: 1 2 years of clerical, administrative, or customer service experience (prior
experience in an educational setting is a plus).
• Tech Proficiency: Competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace
(Docs, Sheets, Forms).
• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Clearances: Must successfully pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
requirements.
