Location: Remote or Hybrid (Seattle)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer & Head of Development
Salary/Hours: $35/hour, 25 hours/week
Overview
We are a fast growing integrated real estate company in the affordable housing space seeking a highly capable Accounting Manager with direct experience in construction and real estate development accounting to support our growing platform.
This role owns accounting for:
  • Arboreal Construction (job costing + project accounting)
  • Great Expectations (development entities and projects)

The right candidate will already be fluent in job cost accounting, construction draws, and development financial workflows and can operate independently from day one.
Core Responsibilities
Construction Accounting (Primary Focus)
  • Role will be supported by the construction manager, who has ultimate responsibility of the project P&L
  • Maintain job cost accounting across multiple active construction projects. Ensure cost properly tracked between project, cost codes and vendors
  • Invoice creation, issuance to client, tracking payment of invoices
  • Assembly of monthly draw package when the construction project has lender billings. Track retention, sales tax, etc
  • Ensure accurate cost coding across jobs and cost categories
  • Partner with construction/project manager to maintain real-time cost visibility
  • Produce monthly job cost reports and variance analysis

Development Accounting (Secondary Focus)
  • Role will be supported by head of development, who has ultimate responsibility for project P&L
  • Prepare lender draw package, assembling invoices from consultants, updating budget billing sheet, gathering lien releases (when required)
  • Maintain development entity books and support investor/lender reporting
  • Ensure compliance with financing requirements and reporting timelines

Non-Negotiable Requirements
Candidates must have hands-on experience with:
  • Construction job costing systems (not just conceptual knowledge)
  • Preparing lender draw packages for ground-up or major rehab projects
  • Working across multiple entities and projects simultaneously
