Job description

Soccer Post Retail Management Opportunity

Soccer Post is the country's largest chain of local community focused soccer specialty stores. We are looking for new team members to be part of our national expansion. If you are known for your energy, initiative, and commitment to a career in retail management, we would really like to meet you. Our customers are soccer enthusiasts and athletes, and our team is comprised of service-first professionals with diverse experiences and interests. Store managers run a small business, with accountability for sales and marketing, operations, people management, and product. The ideal candidate is passionate about customers, teams, and the opportunity to make an impact on their community. This full-time management position is an opportunity to build a career with a growing business.

What It Takes To Play At Soccer Post:
  • You have two plus years successful experience in retail as a manager, and demonstrate a good understanding of operations, inventory management, merchandising, promotional programming, event planning, and the use of a digital and local community presence to build the brand. This position is accountable for a full P&L and reports to our Regional Lead.
  • Proven track record as a builder of great talent and a developer of high performing teams. You have managed teams of at least 5 people before, and have a gift for creating a fun, rewarding work environment that is safe, profitable, and a great customer and employee experience. The store manager is responsible for coordinating staffing, training, safety, and performance standards as part of overall store operations.
  • Customer satisfaction is your passion, and you know how to create an engaging customer experience with extraordinary service, and a store that is safe, clean, well-stocked and meets merchandising visual standards. You enjoy a reputation as a brand ambassador, building and leveraging a network of local teams, league leadership, athletes, and other community stakeholders to drive customer retention and loyalty.
  • A business development mindset will set you apart in marketing our experiential in store experience to existing and new clients - ensuring an elevated shopping experience, hosting events and renting our fields.
  • We love your great intuition, but you are also willing and able to use data to inform your decision making. Inventory, labor, promotion/marketing, and revenue decisions are based on your analysis of sales, inventory, staffing, and merchandising reporting. You are a capable financial manager, with a good understanding of how to address challenges to a P&L and drivers of KPIs. You effectively track market and customer trends, and work well across functions to incorporate your findings and store results to navigate and drive business outcomes.
How To Be An MVP:

Our store manager is the ultimate player-coach, running a small business with a team of highly engaged and talented associates. While our management team has people from all walks of life, they share a few key values and capabilities:

  • Leader: a highly competent manager of people and process, you know how to plan and execute but people want to follow you, not just your orders. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, an approachable, collaborative, and inspirational leadership style, compassion, and a genuine commitment to others are important values in our culture. You are a great listener and communicator, and very effective at finding win-win solutions for your employees and customers.
  • Decision-Maker: you are comfortable with a degree of conflict, ambiguity, and the use of data to make informed decisions. You have a "buck-stops-here" mindset, and act quickly but always with integrity. Fair-minded, pragmatic, good judgment, and decisive are characteristics that define you.
  • Resilient: you wear multiple hats in this job, and you love the hustle. You are extremely task-oriented, detailed, and organized. You are personally flexible, mentally tough, and prioritize and manage time well. The pace and seasonality of our business matches your energy, and solving problems is part of the fun of the job for you. Personal ownership and accountability, and the ability to bounce back from the unexpected are part of what motivates you.

Competitive pay, benefits and the opportunity for rapid growth based on exceptional performance.

Experience And Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration or related field preferred, BUT less formal education with more on-the-job experience may be substituted.
  • 2+ years of experience in retail as a manager
  • Experience managing teams of 5 or more
