SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
PLANNING, PARKS amp; RECREATION
POSITION SUMMARY
This full-time position serves as a senior-level leadership role within Spicer Group’s Planning, Parks amp; Recreation team, responsible for managing complex site development, planning, and construction-related projects from client development through project closeout. The Senior Project Manager applies advanced knowledge of site design, planning, and construction principles to lead multiple projects, oversee budgets and schedules, direct support personnel, and ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables. This role requires a proven ability to manage high-value AEC projects, build strong client relationships, support marketing and proposal efforts, and provide strategic direction that strengthens project delivery standards across the firm. The ideal candidate brings progressive site development experience, strong leadership and risk management skills, and the technical expertise needed to successfully guide projects, teams, and clients through all phases of delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as project manager, responsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of site design, planning, and construction principles and practices in broad areas
  • Uses advanced techniques, theories, and practices in specialized fields and related disciplines
  • Provides advanced technical input and evaluation on projects, ensuring compliance and innovation
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs large, complex projects or multiple smaller projects with challenging features
  • Prepares, reviews, and updates project budgets, billing projections, marketing goals, and supports corporate budgeting efforts
  • Monitors project schedules and progress, taking corrective actions as needed to ensure timely and successful project delivery
  • Maintains overall control and awareness of active and pending projects within the assigned group
  • Supervises support personnel, delegating tasks and ensuring high-quality deliverables
  • Takes an active role in client development, including proposal preparation and marketing initiatives
  • Participates in presentations to clients, demonstrating the company’s technical credentials and professional expertise
  • Attends project meetings, public hearings, and other stakeholder engagements
  • Participates in continuous professional development through reading industry publications and presenting at professional meetings and seminars

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Planning or a related field preferred
  • Progressive site development work experience
  • Proven track record in leading complex, high-value AEC projects
  • Mastery of all project management phases from client development to closeout
  • Proven ability to read and follow construction blueprints and documents
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
  • Expertise in contracts, legal considerations, and strategic risk management
  • Excellent client relationship management skills; trusted advisor with repeated clients
  • Ability to set strategic direction for projects and influence firm-wide project delivery standards
