LocationThe City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. In this position, you can expect to work on-site at the Denver Post Building (101 West Colfax Avenue, Denver) 3 days per week.

What You'll DoDenver Parks and Recreation's Planning, Design and Construction Division is excited to promote the opportunity to join this incredible workforce as an Associate Parks Project Manager.
This crucial position will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and monitoring departmental projects from inception to completion.
As an Associate Parks Project Manager, you will act on:Assume a leadership role in the development, coordination and implementation of a wide variety of moderate to complete design and construction projects.
Manage and oversee several concurrent individual projects and citywide programs that meet DPR goals consistent with The Game Plan for Healthy City.
Manage scope, schedule, and budget, facilitate public and stakeholder engagement, and provide technical design guidance to consultants, coordinate inter-departmental review, oversee bidding and construction contracting, and oversee implementation of projects.
Collaborate with DPR leadership and staff, report on project progress, and identify and address project opportunities and challenges.
Advance the mission, vision, and values of the Parks and Recreation Department through coordination of ongoing planning and design efforts for a variety of urban, suburban, natural open space and mountain parks, including recreation amenities, natural areas, facilities, infrastructure, and park access and trail projects throughout the Denver Parks system.
Coordinate with other city agencies, utility providers and governmental agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
Advocate for application of Denver Park Planning Design and Construction standards.
Participate in the refinement of standards and best practices driven by innovation and the input of experts inside and outside the Department.
Apply rigorous quality control procedures to all projects to enable high quality planning, design, construction to ensure high quality operations and maintenance.
Advance equity in park design with a focus on creating inclusive park spaces, meeting ADA requirements, and advancing sustainability in park design. Equitable design standards
Participate in the design process and help the project team select the best design solution.
Successfully collaborate in the exchange of information between city staff, consultants, the public and stakeholders through clear and effective written, graphic and verbal communication.
Build consensus and support for DPR efforts and participate in outreach with neighborhood residents, stakeholders, and city leadership, balancing a variety of interests in order to successfully complete projects.
Cultivate and contribute to positive public relations for the Department. Initiate and support efforts to secure and apply project funding. Identify and cultivate potential partnerships between DPR and other internal and external interest groups.
Assist in grant writing, reporting, and compliance for local, state, and federal grants by project as required.
This position may produce some in-house design work including site graphics, construction documents, and writing specifications.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You'll BringWe are looking for an accomplished professional with a passion for parks, recreation, and open space projects that positively impact communities. Our ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of best practices for planning, design and construction, demonstrated communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team under time constrained and highly visible situations. We are looking for someone with good writing skills, particularly in scope of work documents and contracts, public communications, and correspondence.
Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:

Creative thinking to meet Denver's changing park and recreational needs and accessible access to parks and play for all ages and abilities.
At least 3 years of relevant experience perferred
Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Project Management or a related field.
Licensed professional with experience in parks, recreation, and/or open space planning, design, and construction.
Experience with construction management and administration, and capital project management.
Experience with the oversight and management of multidisciplinary consultant and contractor teams
Technical knowledge and experience with site design, irrigation, playgrounds and other park amenities.
Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred, but not required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, and AutoCAD.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to achieve positive outcomes in working with diverse groups
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related degree.
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of professional project management experience including coordinating, administering, and monitoring horizontal construction and design projects.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
Licensure/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
